Steinberg Announces CMC Series Controllers

Steinberg has announced their new CMC Series of DAW Controllers for Cubase. The CMC series is made up of six USB-powered controllers that can be individually combined to form a custom-made Cubase control desk. Whether beat creation, transport control, editing or multi-track mixing, there is the perfect model for every task. Each of the six slim-sized units is unique in its own way and features a dedicated set of illuminated rotary encoders, touch faders or pads - each of them designed to take hands-on control of a specific section in Cubase. Due to the adoption of Cubase's icons and color scheme, users will instantly feel at home with the workflow. Take control, keep focused and be flexible - the CMC series will tremendously speed up your recording, editing and mixing workflow no matter if you are in the studio or on the go.
CMC stands for the world's first truly integrated, modular controller system. Made up of six unique units, each designed for a dedicated purpose, the CMC micro controllers can be individually combined to form a personal Cubase control desk - with up to nine CMC units. With the included joint plate, it is a straightforward matter to fix several CMC units. Plus, you can even combine the Steinberg CMC-PD Pad Controller and FD Fader Controller models with Steinberg's CC121 Advanced Integration controller, leaving no control request unanswered. For the first time ever, it is possible to individually design a personal controller system that exactly fits your needs.

The Steinberg CMC-FD Fader Controller, Steinberg CMC-CH Channel Controller, and Steinberg CMC-TP Transport Controller introduce a newly developed, high-precision touch device that offers a whole new approach to DAW control. While the CMC-FD and CMC-CH house a high-precision touch fader with a resolution of up to 1,024 steps and integrated LED lights, the CMC-TP comes with a multi-functional touch slider. The ultra-high resolution, integrated LED lights for visual feedback and dedicated working modes make this innovative control solution a smart and intuitive addition to any studio and live performance setup.

First introduced with Steinberg's CC121 Advanced Integration Controller, the revolutionary AI Knob is an exceptionally helpful "point and control" knob. Rather than attempting to replace traditional mouse pointing devices, the AI Knob harnesses the flexibility of a computer mouse to offer unprecedented speed when editing parameters and adjusting settings. The computer mouse is simply moved over the parameter, which is then automatically placed under full precision control through the AI Knob, with no need to make any additional settings in Cubase, any additional software module or on the interface itself. The Steinberg CMC-AI Controller features the groundbreaking AI Knob.

The Steinberg CMC-QC Quick Controller and CMC-CH units house convenient rotary encoders with green LED lights. The LED brightness varies according to the encoder position: the farther from the center, the brighter the LED. And also the CMC-PD features 16 highly responsive rubber pads with LED-based background lights. Best of all, the lights change colors depending on the velocity level - from green to orange over to red.

Small in size but big in value, the CMC series are your perfect partner on the road. The units are small enough to fit in your pocket, on a master keyboard or wherever desired. Since the CMC units are powered via USB, you don't need any additional power supply. And with a unique level of handling quality, the CMC series is suited for both crowded live venues and project studios ranging from bedroom to mansion.

AI stands for Advanced Integration, being a technology developed in close collaboration between Steinberg and Yamaha. The AI technology allows for a seamless integration of the DAWs developed by Steinberg into the digital audio hardware from Yamaha and Steinberg. AI provides plug-and-play at an as-yet unknown level. The software automatically carries out the required settings of the connected hardware, such as selecting drivers and the remote settings - it couldn't be easier.

Each CMC controller features full plug and play with Cubase, requiring no additional setup as a controller device. A swift, one-step installation procedure is all that's required. Once the installation has been performed, Cubase detects the device when launched and automatically binds the unit into the Cubase production environment. To reflect this, the Ready lamp lights up and the controller is ready to assume control.

Each of the CMC units includes an exclusive download version of Cubase AI, a special, compact version of the popular Cubase music production system. Together with one or more CMC units, you have a complete system solution for fine-tuning your music to perfection.
