Front End Audio Attends Moogfest 2010

Image
Being in the music industry always has some great moments. For us, as dealers, one of those moments is when we get the opportunity to take on new product lines. An example of this is when we recently were able to start carrying the illustrious products of Moog Music Inc. And I couldn’t think of a better time to take on such a great line of gear. Not only because of the changes in the music industry, putting the freedom of creativity back in the hands of the artists, but because of Moogfest. The same month that we teamed up with Moog (October), is the same month this great festival was taking place. This year, it was right next door in Asheville North Carolina, where the Moog Company recently moved its operations from New York. In its sixth year, Moogfest is still bringing to the forefront the many great ways Dr. Robert Moog changed the face of music in the 1960’s. Featuring a ton of great music acts, and extremely informative workshops, the three day festival of Moogfest is a must ...

AEA KU4 Ribbon Microphone

Image
AEA unveiled the AEA KU4 Ribbon Microphone at the San Francisco AES show this past weekend. The KU4 is AEA's modern interpretation of the original RCA KU3A, which many engineers consider to be the best ribbon microphone ever made. The increased rear rejection of the supercardioid pattern reduces the amount of room sound, which is often desired in modern production applications, particularly vocal recording. With a custom transformer, strong neodymium magnets and a low-tuned RCA new-old stock ribbon, the KU4 continues AEA's legacy for wide-bandwidth, top-quality ribbon microphones handmade in Pasadena, CA. The AEA KU4 Ribbon Microphone will be shipping towards the end of January and will be selling for $4248.

Universal Audio, a leading manufacturer of professional audio recording products, is set to start shipping the Universal Audio 4-710D Four-Channel "Twin-finity" Mic Preamp & DI with Dynamics. As the newest member of UA's popular analog product lineup, the 4-710D combines UA's classic design approach with several modern innovations - creating a unique studio device suited to a wide range of applications. At the core of the Universal Audio 4-710D are four channels of tone-blending "Twin-finity" mic preamps with true-bypass 1176-style compression. Based on the original award-winning 710 Twin-Finity preamp - favored by engineers including Al Schmitt (Jackson Browne, Dr. John, Diana Krall) and Matt Boudreau (The Samples, Sean O'Brien) - each of the four mic preamp channels allows for continuously variable tone between 100% tube and 100% solid-state. Other notable 4-710D features include: Newly designed 1176-style compression/soft-limiting ...

October Contest Winner

Winner: Jonathan Estill City From: Cedar Park, Texas Prize Won: M-Audio Axiom Controller Quote from the winner: Yay! A free Axiom! I was debating about buying one, but at this price it's hard to argue. I'm always appreciative when audio retailers give stuff away, since the gear we need is so expensive. Focal Professional Visits Front End Audio

Image
Last week, Simon Côté from Focal Professional , stopped by Front End Audio to welcome us to their family of authorized dealers and to conduct a thorough training and demonstration of the whole of the Focal Professional line of studio monitors. “We are very excited about taking on the Focal line” says Sales Manager Alan Moon. “The quality of reproduction afforded by Focal’s unique design technologies and years of manufacturing expertise, make for a line of studio monitors that will not only allow you to make mixes that will easily translate to the outside world, but will also allow you to very quickly tune into the minutiae and quickly tweak elements that you would probably have missed if monitoring on other monitors. For example, while evaluating a pair of the Twin6 Be monitors, I had pulled up a mix that I had been working on using a pair of monitors that I have really gotten to know over the past year. I immediately heard balance problems and a reverb buildup that I had been buri...
